Mike Hooper

Senior Vice President, Electric Operations, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO)


 

Mike Hooper is responsible for the electric transmission, distribution, and generation operations at NIPSCO.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree and began his career in the power industry in 1995 as a field engineer with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1996, he joined American Electric Power where he spent 15 years at AEP in various roles within the Power Generation and Capital Project Management divisions. In 2011, he joined NIPSCO as the Vice President of Major Projects and assumed his current role in July of 2015.

Mr. Jipping held positions of increasing responsibility in Transmission System Operations; Transmission and Sub transmission Planning; and Service Center Operations. Mr. Jipping earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Calvin College and a Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, concentrating in power systems, from Michigan Technological University.

A registered professional engineer in the state of Michigan, Mr. Jipping currently serves as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Michigan Technological University College of Engineering. Mr. Jipping is a member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, the Edison Electric Institutes’ CEO Policy Committee on Energy Delivery and the Policy Committee on Reliability & Business Continuity, and is a board member of the North American Transmission Forum.
