The Lazy Q Facility Tour

As the largest utility infrastructure construction firm in the United States, Quanta Services employs more than 28,000 people in North America. Serving our clients requires a significant number of skilled field workers, which can be difficult to staff. In order to address the skill gap that exists in the industry and prevent any threat to our high standards of safety, quality workmanship and excellent customer service—Quanta has taken a proactive approach to training a top-notch labor force for the electric, pipeline and telecommunication industries. The company has significantly invested in training efforts, the pinnacle of which is a next generation, state-of-the-art lineman’s training facility called the Lazy Q Ranch. This 2,200-acre campus is located just outside of Houston in La Grange, Texas. Here, Quanta offers continuing education and safety training to its employees. The company also offers new recruits a point of entry into our industry through training at the Lazy Q.

Quanta’s hiring initiative works closely with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), veteran organizations, local universities and other organizations to bring young people into our industry. No prior experience required. We’ve also partnered with Sam Houston State University to develop a curriculum specific to our field requirements. Students receive training and are given the opportunity to intern directly with Quanta field leadership on actual projects. Partnerships like this are essential to developing a next generation workforce for our industry.

Guided tours of Lazy Q training facility will be offered to Utility Perspectives attendees.
Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. OR Tuesday, 1:00p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
