General Manager of Power Delivery Construction, Georgia Power Company
Christie Miree leads Transmission Construction, which is responsible for the statewide construction of all transmission line and substation assets that provide the best overall value in terms of reliable performance, community impact, and life cycle cost. Miree is also responsible for the Distribution Resources & Services Organization which provides statewide distribution construction support on large projects, such as distribution reconductor projects, road widening projects, and volume make-ready work for pole maintenance. Additionally, her team supports the operating companies’ emergency operations, compliance initiatives, standards development and workforce development, and is comprised of both Georgia Power and contractor construction resources.
Miree began her Southern Company career in 1993 as a Transmission Substation Design Engineer for Alabama Power. Since then, she has served in various leadership roles across the company in Transmission, Distribution Operations, Customer Service, Power Delivery, and Information Technology.
In her previous position, Miree served as Vice President and Regional Chief Information Officer for the Georgia region of Southern Company. She has also previously served as Manager of the Transmission Project Management Organization, providing leadership and direction to the management of Georgia Power’s transmission capital construction projects. Prior to this role, she led the deployment and overall strategic direction of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure project for the Southern Company system, which resulted in the deployment of more than 4.4 million smart meters.
Miree serves on the Industrial Advisory Board for both the electrical engineering and the computer engineering departments at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Through an appointment by the Governor of Alabama, Miree served on the board of trustees for the university for 13 years and chaired the Board’s Academic and Student Affairs Committee. In 2011, she was honored by the university with its Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of her outstanding achievement and leadership in her chosen fields and for the school.
In 2005, Miree was appointed by Florida Governor Jeb Bush to the Escambia County Early Learning Coalition, where she served during her tenure at Southern Company’s Gulf Power subsidiary.
A licensed professional engineer, Miree previously served as chairman of the Distribution Coordinating Council for the Southeastern Electric Exchange (SEE) and as an active member of the SEE Mutual Assistance Committee. She has also served on the board of directors for Utilimetrics, an international trade association dedicated to providing information and education regarding advanced metering and data management solutions for electric, gas and water utilities.
Miree holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Alabama and a master’s degree in business administration from Samford University.
